English as an additional language or dialect (EAL/D) learners
To meet the needs of our diverse school community, Margaret Hendry School’s teaching team includes our EAL/D specialist. Our EAL/D specialist holds both the experience and expertise in supporting learners who have English as an Additional Language or Dialect.
Paramount to effective Literacy instruction is the implementation of appropriate teaching strategies. Our specialist works with both children and staff to ensure that every child is supported to grow and achieve success. EAL/D learners are supported through small-group learning to focus on English language acquisition and focused 1:1 reading alongside our universal practice that involves explicit teaching and individualised learning goals.
