Our School

Established in 2018, Margaret Hendry School is the ACT Education Directorate’s newest school located in the suburb of Taylor in north Gungahlin. The suburbs of Taylor and Moncrieff are the priority enrolment areas, and the school caters for learners from preschool to Year 6. The school is organised into four multi-age Learning Communities of Preschool, Kindergarten to Year 2, Year 3 to Year 5 and Year 6. Margaret Hendry School an Innovative Learning Environment (ILE) and was purposefully designed and built in response to the ACT Education Directorate’s Future of Education strategy.

Learning spaces are flexible and adaptable to facilitate a broad range of learning experiences. We believe that learning can occur anytime, anywhere, and we see our outdoor environment as the second ‘classroom’. By promoting open-ended play outside, children are encouraged to play and connect in different ways; creating, improvising and imagining, to become active and involved learners both within and beyond their learning community.

The school campus is a centralised hub, built to support and connect our community. Our school facilities and services include library, kitchen facilities, a community garden, before and after school care, high-class sporting facilities including a double gym and a basketball court and access to 6 sporting fields as well as fantastic outdoor learning and play areas.
