Margaret Hendry School – Infrastructure Update

Margaret Hendry School Expansion

The Education Directorate commenced planning for the expansion of our school in 2021. This expansion will support and accommodate enrolment of up to an additional 600 students over the coming decade.

A new double storey building will provide Learning Communities for up to 600 students. This incorporates general learning settings, specialist learning settings including food technology, Science Technology Engineering Art and Maths (STEAM), as well as small group programs. An early concept of the new Learning Community building is presented below:

As part of the expansion, we will provide additional car parking, external play spaces and outdoor learning areas, and a flexible space that can accommodate community activities. Learning areas are expected to be ready for the 2023 school year, with additional supplementary works expected to continue during 2023. These dates may be impacted by weather and COVID-19 factors.

Construction is progressing well with the new Learning Community building take shape. The ground-floor concrete slab is complete, columns and lift shaft are in progress and the first pour for the level 1 slab complete.

Work has also commenced on the new northern and western carparks.

Our website contains a Question and Answer (Q&A) section to give families and our community the opportunity to find out more about certain topics or find an answer a specific question.
